Our 2026 Verified Ward Data is live — more communities, deeper insights, greater impact.

Methodology

Verification is the product.

Canvassing data across South Africa is largely captured by hand and rarely checked, which is how recycled and fabricated records end up inflating registration numbers. Our answer is a single verification standard that every channel has to pass through.

Three capture channels

In-person ID scan

A field worker captures the contact on the ground, with GPS and timestamp recorded at the moment of capture.

WhatsApp self-report

Community members submit their own details through a guided WhatsApp flow, tagged at a different confidence level.

Facilitated dialogue session

Structured community conversations produce qualitative themes, recorded with consent and kept separate from counts.

One verification standard

Confidence levels on every record

How a contact arrived is never lost. Nothing is silently promoted to a higher confidence than the channel allows.

Duplicate detection

Records are matched across channels and campaigns so the same person cannot inflate a ward's numbers twice.

Random audit sampling with consequences

A sample of every canvasser's work is called back. Failed audits have defined outcomes, not warnings.

Confidential field-worker channel

Canvassers can report pressure to inflate numbers without going through the person applying the pressure.

Consent-first, community-return ethics

Participants are told what is collected and why, and communities get something back from the data they produced.

Client data isolation

Each client works in an isolated tenant. Rival parties never see, share or infer one another's data.
